An Illinois native, Dr. Robert Smith grew up in a suburb of Chicago. After Majoring in business at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse and film at Columbia College, Dr Smith completed his doctorate program at Chicago National College of Naprapathy in 2000.
Shortly after he co-founded The Center for Natural Therapy in Evanston with his colleague and classmate Dr. Dexter Russell. Dr. Smith has been a licensed massage therapist since 1995 and has taught massage and science courses at several schools in the Chicagoland area. His travels abroad led him to create Dr. Bob’s Thai Trip in 2004 (www.drbobsthaitrip.com) and has since led several groups of American students to study Thai Massage in Thailand.
A New Mexico resident since 2007, he started his own practice, the Southwest Center for Pain Management, in downtown Albuquerque in 2009 and opened a second office in Santa Fe in 2010. Dr. Smith has specialized in working with professional athletes and has worked extensively with local MMA fighters, professional UFC fighters and many hollywood actors and crew currently working throughout NM.
